Volvo Co-Pilot Productivity Suite

Volvo Co-Pilot is a suite of on-board productivity applications for Volvo Construction Equipment. The apps were developed on a customized Android platform and I was Project/Product Manager and Lead Developer for HMI (Human-Machine Interface). Volvo Co-Pilot received the prestigious Car HMI Award in Berlin in 2016. Read more here: Volvo Co-Pilot wins prestigious human-machine interface award.

The team of designers and developers at Volvo CE Product Design collaborated with CPAC Systems where a very talented team developed the hardware and core software model for the application suite. CPAC has also curated a great video playlist presenting the Co-Pilot products and their core features. I have chosen three videos to include below; one for each of the three projects I led: Load Assist, Compact Assist, and Dig Assist.

Volvo Gaiax Electric Excavator Concept

During the period 2013-2014 I was the Technical Lead for development of the Augmented Reality User Interface for the Volvo Gaiax Concept Excavator. The reveal and presentation were at Conexpo Las Vegas in March 2014. Article with interview from Conexpo: CONEXPO: Volvo debuts GaiaX 2030 excavator conceptEquipment World‘s take on the Gaiax concept is available here.

Augmented Reality Demo

Design Director Sidney Levy runs a demo of the Augmented Reality User Interface. The interface was built using Unity3D and Vuforia. The design story board in the background was used as an AR tracker in order to maximize performance. A second great demo is available here.
